Amazon Bringing Alexa to Your Workplace
Axios is reporting that Amazon plans to optimize Alexa for use in a business environment.
The report says that Amazon hopes Alexa in the workplace can improve business efficiency, providing “…support for voice to automate tasks [that] could leapfrog several missed generations of consumer technology.”
The move comes as Amazon continues to release products that seek more and more access to consumers’ homes and private lives. Naturally, the introduction of Alexa to the workplace could introduce a host of coincident concerns, including cybersecurity risks.
The move also raises privacy concerns; namely, that Amazon will offer some sort of workplace monitoring option to managers that allows them to listen in at anytime to the conversations and goings-on of their employees. It has already been widely reported that businesses are turning to frighteningly intrusive methods of employee monitoring, and the addition of an Alexa to report any gossip back to the CEO could provide the perfect complement to round out the panopticon workplace experience.
