Apple iCloud Uses Google Cloud for Storage
Apple today confirmed that it uses Google’s cloud service to store documents put into it’s own iCloud service.
This means that any photos or documents being stored by Apple users through iCloud actually reside on Google’s servers. Previously, Apple had used cloud resources provided by AWS or Microsoft Azure. Google’s history with privacy is a troubled one; for those worried about Google’s access to iCloud data, Apple has promised that any data stored on the platform is strongly encrypted and cannot be accessed by Google itself.
