A new CSS-based web attack can cause iPhones and other Mac devices to crash and restart, TechCrunch reports.
thenextweb.com reports that the attack, discovered originally by security reseacher Sabri Haddouche,
uses multiple nested elements like <div> tags inside a CSS effect called backdrop-filter, used for color shifting behind the element.
This can generate enough CPU intensive activity to crash the device.
Though the attack reportedly can affect any device that renders HTML on iOS, researchers suggest it has little value other than causing an annoyance.
